One of the more useful features of TLHH has been ported over to this forum--the auto card linker! The way it works is super simple: name a card, any card, and it will be automatically linked in your post: Merry, Friend to Sam; PATHS; Isildur's Bane.
I have added a few additional features to this incarnation of the tool, and as a result it does work slightly differently from how it did on TLHH. Card names are parsed whenever you submit a post or hit Preview, and this will surround your card titles with tags, pointing to a card ID. (This is actually what TLHH did too, but it kept them invisible.) If you are in the process of editing and want to remove those tags temporarily, you can click this button in the editor:
Linking a Card
Now on to all the ways you can refer to a card!
By title, subtitle: Aragorn, Ranger of the North
By subtitle: Resolute Halfling
By full abbreviation: RTIM
By title with subtitle abbreviation: Gandalf, FOTS (with or without comma)
By collector's info: 1R90
As with the autolinker on TLHH, the links will lead you to the wiki page for that card. However these all point to the new wiki instead of the old ratty one.
Unlike TLHH, accents are automatically handled: Ulaire Enquea, LOM and Úlairë Enquëa, LOM both work.
And also unlike TLHH, now that it's finally in a package we can edit, all PC V-sets are supported! Fell Voices Call, YFAWY, Sauron LOAME.
Errata
The card linker also supports PC errata. If you put the following "magic word" anywhere in your post:
(that's "PC" surrounded by curly braces {}) it will automatically interpret cards from a PC standpoint and will auto-apply the latest errata to them:
If you do not include that magic word, then it will default to showing the Decipher version of the card.
Blacklist
We also have the ability to ban an abbreviation from being used globally if it's an obnoxious combination:
If you see an auto-link that is a common word (in any language, not just English), then please let us know and we'll add it to the filter.
Disabling
If you prefix a word with !, like !!Sting, the system will prevent that word from being used when parsing card titles. (And it will not show in your post text.)
If you decide you don't want any auto-linking anywhere in your post, check this box in the options below the post:
Go forth and auto-link!
